Kat Bagley has been an advocate for the many uses of hemp for nearly two decades. She has done extensive research, including hands on field work, to learn how to best grow and utilize this incredible crop.
Mary-Taylor & Kat met in New York City in 2013. Since then, they have spent over seven years now leading various biodynamic farming projects in Hawaii, NYC, Colorado, Oregon and California where they are now cultivating their own biodynamic hemp and mushroom farm with plans for a full-spectrum healing center in the works.

Hemp is a sustainable answer for personal wellness, and the environment, while also providing solutions to decreasing wealth inequality and boosting rural and local economies. Change starts with beginning to place value in the unparalleled healing that takes place when we learn to utilize and respect the medicine and regenerative resources that grow from this earth.
Due to the natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties of the hemp plant, the risk for developing Toxic Shock Syndrome, among other issues like yeast infections, are virtually eliminated. (Please do not leave any tampon in longer than 8 hours no matter what, to be safe)
By choosing to make the change from products that support cotton to those that support industrial hemp, you are actively part of "being the change you wish to see in the world." After all, when we begin to heal ourselves, we are beginning to heal the world as well. Pat yourself on the back!
The cotton plant needs about 50 percent more water per season than hemp, which can grow with little irrigation. When you add processing into the equation, cotton uses more than four times as much water as hemp. That’s a lot of water! Some areas of the world that produce cotton are running out of fresh water due to the production of cotton as well as clothing. Some areas of the world have even experienced desertification as a result of producing cotton.
As hemp requires about half the amount of water to grow as you would if producing cotton, hemp is a strong and reliable plant that grows very quickly even in dry regions. Not only that, hemp produces about 200% – 250% more fiber in the same amount of land compared to cotton.
One of the biggest downsides to cotton is how much pesticides are used to grow the plant. Although organic cotton farming is beginning to catch on a bit more, the production of cotton worldwide takes up about 25% of the world’s pesticide use. The other unfortunate factor is that these chemicals can end up being absorbed into our skin via the clothing we wear... and, you guessed it, TAMPONS.
On the other hand, one of the greatest aspects of hemp is that it requires no pesticides to grow. In fact, it doesn’t require any chemicals at all to grow. The growing nature of the plant competes with weeds and over-powers their ability to sustain themselves. This allows the hemp plant to grow freely and quickly. This means toxin-free food, fiber, medicine and our favorite... TAMPONS!
